THE TRAINING PRESENT MINIMUM RECOMMENDED SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR ENSURING THE SAFE AND EFFICIENT OPERATION OF OVERHEAD CRANES. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS TRAINING MATERIAL SHOULD HELP TO ENSURE THAT WORKERS ARE SUITABLY TRAINED TO SAFELY OPERATE OVERHEAD CRANES. BEING SUITABLY TRAINED IS ONE COMPONENT OF WORKER COMPETENCE. OPERATORS WILL ALSO BE TRAINED FOR A GENERAL UNDERSTANDING OF OPERATION, RIGGING, SLINGING, SIGNALING AND INSPECTION OF OVERHEAD CRANE, EQUIPMENT & ACCESSORIES.

THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO PASS AN ASSESSMENT?

  • understand and interpret load charts and data plates, 

  • set-up the crane or hoist for Cab and Non Cab, wireless and normal 

controller, 

  • communicate and respond to hand, whistle signals or walkie talkie for 

load movement, 

  • calculate the safe working loads of slings in various configurations 

(number of sling/s, etc) 

  • inspect lifting gear shackles etc for defects, 

  • assess the weight of loads (without formal weight list), 

  • understand the use of various items of lifting gear, 

  • understand hoist operation signals, 

  • inspect flexible steel wire ropes and sheaves for defects, 

  • operate the crane or hoist under actual or simulated working conditions, 

  • normal shutdown procedures, 

  • emergency shutdown procedures.

  • He holds professional certifications & qualifications in Crane Lifting / MHE / MEWP Operations and Vocational Training Officer (JPK), Train The Trainer (HRDF), Certified Lifting Director (ITI, accredited by LEEA & ASME), American Society of Safety Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers USA, PUWER & LOLER (UK) certifications.
